'CFK promised and delivered,' governor Scioli says
Buenos Aires province governor Daniel Scioli assured that his relationship with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is “good, but above all, it is a matter of great responsibility.” When referring to the funds transferred to the province, which helped pay mid-year bonuses to public workers, he assured that she “promised and delivered.”
“My relationship with Cristina is good, but above all, it is a matter of great responsibility,” he explained, as he thanked the National Government for “helping” the province.
“The president made a promise and she delivered,” the governor said, adding that “people were paid what they expected to be paid and will get their bonuses between Wednesday and Friday.”
“I had no doubt that we would do any necessary efforts in order to lessen this burden created by a fiscal deficit, a deficit that has been with us for a long time now,” he explained.
Scioli looked to alleviate the tensions with the National Government after several weeks of comings and goings between them amidst a provincial financial crisis.
The confrontation with the Fernández de Kirchner administration also put him at odds with his own deputy governor, Gabriel Mariotto, which prompted him to say he was willing to do “his best” in order to make the relationship work “as good as possible.”
“I’m going to do my best to make this relationship work as good as possible, for the good of the province and because it’s the right thing to do,” he said.
