BA province minister urges Mariotto to ‘fulfill his institutional role’

The Buenos Aires province Minister of Government Cristina Alvarez Rodríguez, sought to lower the tone of confrontation that was raised by the split of the civil servants’ midyear bonus payment, and urged Deputy Governor Gabriel Mariotto to “fulfill his institutional role."

Likewise, Alvarez Rodríguez dismissed a conflict between the national government and the BA provincial administration led by Governor Daniel Scioli.

Furthermore, the official defended Scioli’s administration by saying "We are the province with the highest tax collection in the country as well the one that spends the least per capita."

Going back to Mariotto, who ever since appointed has been operating in favour of the national government and the President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in an attempt to deactivate Scioli’s hopes to run for president in 2015, Alvarez Rodríguez said "Gabriel [Mariotto] is our Deputy-governor and we expect him to fulfill his institutional role in regard to the nature of his office", and added, “We hope that he will accompany our governor [Scioli] on this tandem composed by the best president and the best governor.”
