Gov't says BA City is 'one of the safest cities in South America'
National Security secretary Sergio Berni assured that Buenos Aires City "is one of the safest cities in South America" and stated that it is "a responsibility area" of the Ministry headed by Nilda Garré.
Although he admitted that Buenos Aires province has "lack of security", he affirmed that the Ministry only colaborates in the area when required by the administration of Daniel Scioli, who the Kirchnerites blasted over the policies applied against crime.
Berni reported that 71 of the crimes committed in 2012 in the province, "only four were linked to a robbery."
"Compared to the province, in Buenos Aires City we have that in cases of robbery followed by murder there are five homicides every 100,000 inhabitants. This shows it's one of the safest cities in South America," he highlighted.
The secretary also added that Buenos Aires City "is one of the cities with lower criminality rates in Latin America, even lower than the US standards."
"In the City, we are in charge of the security with the Federal Police and with the South Belt operative with the Prefecture and Gendarmerie," he detailed.
