BA province teachers reject bonus payment schedule
FEB education workers’ head Mirta Petrocini confirmed that classes would not resume in Buenos Aires province, and urged the provincial administration to pay the midyear bonus as soon as possible despite the government’s decision to pay it in two installments before August 15.
Thus teachers’ unions confirmed strike measures in protest against the payment of the bonus in installments even after BA province Cabinet Chief Alberto Pérez promised to meet all payments before August 15.
“August 15 is not an option, we can’t wait that much”, Petrocini told reporters and added, “So far, we have not been summoned by any government official. We are waiting for them to call us to have an informative meeting. Until that happens we will keep our plan of going on to strike during the first two days after winter break.”
