Peralta requests for Federal Forces to take over Santa Cruz security

Santa Cruz governor Daniel Peralta.

As the institutional crisis in the Santa Cruz police forces continues, governor Daniel Peralta officially signed a request asking the Federal Forces to step up and protect the citizens and provide order to the province.

He presented the request to Security Minister Nilda Garré.

For the last fifteen days, the provincial police forces have been at odds with the provincial government who has already offered a 34 percent salary raise, a measure that the protesters have deemed insufficient.

Despite initial speculation that the governor would declare a Security Emergency, he apparently chose to ask the National Government for additional resources until the current crisis is solved.
