Pianist for Uruguayan band 'No Te Va Gustar' dies

Marcel Curuchet, pianist for the Uruguayan band ‘No Te Va Gustar,’ died this afternoon in the United States after being hospitalized overnight in New Jersey. The musician was involved in a road accident yesterday, sources from the band disclosed.

Curuchet, aged 40, was on route to New Jersey from New York, on a motorcycle that he had rented shortly before the accident.

The band was playing a set of gigs in the US for the first time; alongside the Argentine group Auténticos Decadentes.

The death of the pianist was first announced via the band’s official Twitter page with the following message: “With great sadness we wish to announce the death of our colleague and friend Marcel Curuchet.”
