Major tunnel linking US and Canada shut by bomb threat
The Windsor-Detroit tunnel has been closed since the start of the afternoon while police on both sides of the US-Canada border are investigating a bomb threat.
The warning came from a telephone call received by Canadian authorities, said an officer of the Detroit Police Department.
Spokesmen for the Windsor police could not be immediately contacted but the force said on Twitter that it was investigating "a non-specific, anonymous bomb threat."
Windsor police announced that traffic in both directions of the tunnel was closed.
A technical squad is on the way to inspect the tunnel.
