City Gov't calls for Garré to put together 'security plan'

Deputy mayor for the City of Buenos Aires, María Vidal.

Deputy Mayor for the Buenos Aires City Government María Eugenia Vidal spoke out today about the recent rise in crime on the city streets, stressing that national Security Minister Nilda Garré “should put together a security plan” in order to control the issue.

At the same time as Vidal underlined the importance of the two governments coming together to tackle the issue, she also made it clear that there “is no political dialogue” between the governments, particularly since the rift over the control of the Buenos Aires City subway line.

The deputy to Mauricio Macri made the statements today during an interview with a local radio station, in which she further expressed how she would like for “an agreement” to be reached with the national security minister.

“Considering the current problems with public safety in the city, we would like for minister Garré to put together an agreement and a plan alongside the province of Buenos Aires,” Vidal said.
