Gov't calls CGT to agree on new election date
The national Government accepted the anti-Moyano unions’ dismissal over the CGT labour confederation election scheduled for July 12 and called CGT’s authorities to meet in order to agree on another date for the election, which expires on July 14.
According to Labour Ministry Carlos Tomada, the elections called by Hugo Moyano on April 24 “did not fulfill the requirements” because “six members of the board of Directors were irregularly replaced.”
The minister highlighted that the decision of the Union Affairs Direction ruled that “the CGT should be the one to summon a (new) encounter of the Board of Directors to reach an agreement.”
Nevertheless, Tomada assured that “the current authorities of the CGT will remain at their post” until the conflict is solved.
“They did not muster quorum, they did not fulfill the requirements, the electoral process will remain in hands of the union organizations. This must be clear: the CGT is the one to solve this conflict,” he stated as he left the government’s intervention out of discussion.
Tomada had anticipated earlier this week that he would have an answer over the election dismissal presented by the anti-Moyano wing. This sector called for the suspension of the Congress that was going to be held on July 12 in Ferro because the event was organized without quorum.
Hugo Moyano aims to be reelected as CGT leader, as his feud with the Government continues to deepen.
