National gov't urges BA province to solve problems on its own
Senator Aníbal Fernández (Victory Front) urged Buenos Aires province Governor Daniel Scioli to “bring the provincial numbers into order”, and to “face and solve their problems by themselves as this nation was not built from the top to bottom but the other way around”, after the national government approved the sending of a 1 billion pesos emergency funding pack.
Likewise, the former Cabinet Chief considered that “If the funds sent by the national government are not enough to cover the payroll of the provincial public workers, then we have to conclude that the situation is more than serious.”
The official also remarked that “the national government will collaborate and do its best.”
In addition, Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo stated that the payment of salaries and mid-year bonuses within the Buenos Aires province “is total responsibility of Governor Daniel Scioli”, and added, “The national government has already helped the provincial government.”
Ámbito Financiero revealed that Scioli will came on stage today to explain all provincial expenses his administration faces so to justify his decision of paying the public workers’ mid-year bonus in four payments, plus linking this measure to the situation of inequity the province is experiencing as consequence of the lack of support and funding by the national government.
On Wednesday, both Scioli and President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will meet for the first time after the latter announced the sending of the emergency fund.
