Former Federal Police agent killed in robbery attempt

A former Federal Police agent was murdered early today as he tried to resist a robbery in the City neighbourhood of San Cristóbal, sources said.

The incident took place a few metres away from the intersection of Estados Unidos and Pichincha streets as the 60 year old man was reaching his home. A group of armed men opened fire against him in an attempt of stealing his SUV. The former police man fired back and a shootout ensued and killed him.
