Cerro Dragon workers, company to be fined

Chubut province governor Martin Buzzi announced he will back a fine against Pan American Energy and will seek the seek the legal recognition of los dragones, oil workers who hold a strike in oilfield Cerro Dragón.

Buzzi announced the measure after he proved that it is possible to enter the oilfield, located 70 kilometres from Comodoro Rivadavia, and thus production can be resumed.

“We will move forward with two important decisions: a very important fine against PAE, the maximum fine allowed by the Hydrocarbon Law, which allows us to fine companies over lack of production and distribution.”

Buzzi also said that his administration will move forward with removing the legal recognition of the Dragones workers who are protesting, because if the oilfield is halted is a responsibility of its workers on one hand, and of the company, on other.”
