Del Potro defeats Soeda on the third round of Wimbledon
Tandil native Juan Martin Del Potro took on today the Japanese player Go Soeda in the second round of the 2012 Wimbledon Championships tennis tournament at the All England Tennis Club in Wimbledon, southwest London. Del Potro defeated Soeda in four sets 6-2, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
On Tuesday, Del Potro – a 2009 US Open champion – defied Dutchman Robin Haase 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-5.
The Player from Tokyo and Del Potro met for the last time on 2007 in Adelaide where the Argentine topped Soeda in straight sets.
The Tandil native ranks number 9th on the ATP’s World Rank. Soeda comes on the 58th place.
Next, Del Potro will face number 19th Kei Nishikori in the fourth round of the tournament.
Tomorrow, Juan Mónaco, also a Tandil native, takes on Serbian player Victor Troicki.
