Gov't threatens to apply Supply Law if Teamsters strike
Vice-President Amado Boudou, in charge of the Executive Branch while President while Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is at the G20, said today that that if the Teamsters’ Union were to decide to paralyze the distribution of fuel or food, the Supply Law could be applied.
“If we do not achieve normality and tranquility, the Government will apply the Supply Law. We wish to make sure that the public will have access to all services,” Boudou said today.
Boudou made it clear that if the law were to be applied, the national government “would not be going against rights, but defending the rights of the Argentine people.”
“It is not right that surprises like this exist, the law must be abided by.”
The Vice-President made the statements after participating today in a meeting with Trade and Commerce Secretary Guillermo Moreno and Agriculture Minister Norbert Yauhar.
