CFK attends first day of G20 Summit

Minutes after 2:45 pm (local time) President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner arrived at the opening session of the seventh G20 Summit in Los Cabos, Mexico, where heads of state discussed an "action plan for growth and employment."

Leaders from the country members of the G20 and other invited nations took part on Monday of the first session of a two-day Summit in the Mexican town of Los Cabos, where they look to coordinate actions in the financial system and other pressing matters that make up the international agenda.

“The eyes of the world are upon us,” Calderón assured as he opened the summit. “As G20 leaders we have a great responsibility,” he stated, as he highlighted the “grave situation that the world is going through in several regions with a troubled economy”

Before the session began, the President was greeted by her Mexican counterpart Felipe Calderón, who personally greets all of attending heads of state and members of multilateral organizations also present in the event. 

All presidents were seen arriving after noon individually to the Conventions Centre, located some 4 kilometres from downtown and on the way to the airport.

At 6 pm (Argentina time) the first plenary meeting began, titled “The global Economy: a framework for a vigorous, sustained and balanced growth.” 

The session’s goals focused on analyzing global economic perspectives, evaluating the compliance of previous commitments and discussing the content of the “Los Cabos Action Plan for Growth and Employment.”

At 9 pm Argentina time (6 pm local time) all presidents took the traditional G20 photograph. 

The G-20 Summit takes place in the San José de los Cabos Conventions Centre.
