'Argentina will play a very important role in the G-20 Summit'
Argentine Ambassador to Washington Jorge Argüello stated that the European financial crisis will be the main aspect of the upcoming G-20 summit and that within that context, Argentina will play a very important role based on the country’s experience.
“The European issue will be the main topic of the G-20 summit,” Argüello said of the meeting of the top 20 biggest economies in the world, which will take place in Cancun, Mexico, next week. “Argentina will play a very important role based on its experience, because the country was able to imagine heterodox alternatives when international credit organizations turned their backs upon us. Obviously we cannot move forward with the new recipes.”
“Everybody will have to pay the consequences of the crisis affecting the most important economies in the world, but we will have find new tools to do so,” he warned.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who is New York following her speech at UN Deconolonization Committee regarding the Malvinas islands sovereignty is expected to fly to seaside resort Los Cabos, in western Mexico, to take part of the G20 summit. She will hold bilateral meetings with Russian president Vladimir Putin and French president Francois Hollande.
