Former Memphis La Blusera singer dies in car crash
Former lead singer of blues band Memphis La Blusera, Adrían Otero, died today at the age of 53 in a car accident near the town of Ballesteros in Córdoba province as the composer was heading to Capilla del Monte on the Córdoba-Rosario interstate highway.
According to local Chief Police A. Giménez, the accident took place around 2:30pm when Otero lost control of his Honda Accord, which started to spin around and crossing to the opposite lane.
The artist was in the company of an adult woman who did not suffered from major injuries.
Otero who led one of the most exciting local bands for long 28 years -starting in 1980- decided to leave the band three years ago as part of his soloist project. That very same year, Otero presented "Imán", his so far only solo album. He was lately working on a second LP to be released shortly.
Likewise, the composer, bass and guitar player had lately gone through a difficult battle against his addiction to drugs and alcohol, which took him to several spells at rehab insitutions as he personally confessed to the media.
