Aníbal Fernández says no one ordered him to avoid comments on dollar

Victory Front’s Senator Aníbal Fernández stressed that “talking about a parallel dollar is an illegal act”, thus agreeing with Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo and denying that the latter had told him to avoid giving any more opinions about the greenback.

The comments came after last weekend the former Cabinet Chief told reporters that the government had talked to major exchange agencies so that the black market price or the so called “blue dollar” wouldn’t trade at more than 5.10 pesos on Monday, something that did not occur as the closing price of the US currency yesterday was between 5.55 and 5.80 pesos.

To such statements, which reveal that somehow are official exchange agencies who set the price of the “blue dollar”, Randazzo replied promptly “The only legal dollar exchange rate is the one set by Argentina’s Central Bank. Talking about a parallel price is totally illegal and is like talking about a stolen car.”
