One of the lost hikers found in Mendoza dies

The hikers were tracking around a locality known as Cajón de la Mina when they were hit by a severe storm.

One of the fifteen hikers who had been located after disappearing in the Malargue region has died at the mountain, Mendoza province's officials reported.

"It's a 28-year-old woman, but we still don't know in under which circumstances she died," provincial Natural Resources' secretary Daniel Gómez reported, although the first statement had indicated that all hikers were in good health conditions.

The hikers were trekking around an area known as Cajón de la Mina when they were hit by a severe snow storm and took refuge in the cavern.

There were six women and a 17-year-old minor amongst the missing hikers. Previously, police informed the climber’s last communication was received on Saturday upon descending one of the peaks in the Andean mountain chain.
