Robbers hijack bus in Ciudad Evita, one arrested

Three delinquents hijacked a 91 line bus this morning in the Buenos Aires province area of Ciudad Evita, where an armed off-duty policeman – among the other passengers travelling on the bus – stood up to the robbers, shooting and injuring one of them and arresting another, police said.

The incident occurred at 7.30 am this morning at the intersection of Rama 4 and Central Avenue in Villegas neighbourhood, Ciudad Evita.

Witnesses said that there were ten people aboard the 91 bus, including civilians and an off-duty federal policeman from Station 34.

One of the attackers was carrying a calibre .22 gun, who threatened the bus driver upon boarding the vehicle, announcing that the group had come to carry out a robbery.

Police sources stated that two of the robbers managed to escape, however, the off-duty policeman managed to arrest the man he had shot and wounded earlier.
