Brazil, Argentina agree to solve trade differences
The Brazilian government agreed to solve the trade barriers currently banning Argentine medication, shrimp, citrus and grape products from entering their country in less than a 120 days.
According to state news agency Télam, Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman and Domestic Trade secretary Guillermo Moreno said that the agreement, which includes an Argentine counterpart in the same period of time as a sign of good will that the country really is looking to resolve the trade conflict.
Timerman and Moreno took part in a bilateral meeting that included Brazilian Foreign Ministry Antonio Patriota, Agriculture Minister Mendes Ribeiro Filho and the head of the Development and Foreign Trade ministry, Fernando Pimentel.
“Brazil agreed to solve this in a maximum period of 120 days,” they said.
As a “good will” gesture of reciprocity, Argentina will do the same with Brazilian products that are sitting at the border.
