Congress index: inflation hits 2.16% in April

Opposition lawmakers presented April’s inflation index based in the analysis carried out by private agencies, which showed 2.16 percent increase in comparison to the previous month.

Thus, the index accumulated a 23.5 percent increase between 2011 and 2012, more than double the official inflation index released by Indec national statistics bureau.

“Prices are constantly increasing and this is a very worrying situation,” Unión por Todos lawmaker Patricia Bullrich said during a press conference. “People’s sensation is a reality, prices are rising at an alarming rate,” she added.
