Ciccone case: judge Lijo to decide on prosecutor's recusal in three days

Businessman José María Núñez Carmona’s lawyers once again asked federal judge Ariel Lijo for the recusal of federal prosecutor Carlos Rívolo from the case investigating irregularities in the former printing company Ciccone.

Lawyer Diego Pirota, his client and suspect in the case José María Núñez Carmona and federal prosecutor Carlos Rívolo explained their cases before Lijo in a meeting that lasted for more than two hours.

According to sources, they both turned in two written statements and then spoke to the judge separately and without engaging in any dialogue.

Lijo will now have three days to solve whether Rívolo should remain in the case or be removed from it.

The judge, who took over the case after judge Daniel Rafecas was removed from it by the Federal Chamber due to a lack of impartiality, is expected to keep Rívolo in the case.

Pirota’s accusations against the prosecutor are based on his alleged manipulation of the instructions and leaking of court related information to the mainstream media.
