CFK responds to UK over controversial Olympic ad

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

“Creativity can’t be censored,” President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner explained in relation to the controversial Olympic ad. She blasted the British government for their decision to send a destroyer ship to the Malvinas Islands and the exploitation of their natural resources. “That is a provocation,” she added.

“Some claimed to be offended by a spot that reflects the feelings of all Argentines. But more offensive is the exploitation of natural resources and not respecting the memory of the dead or the UN resolutions,” she said referring to recent statements coming from the British government.

“Argentina will always be open to dialogue. Those who are not are causing great damage to multilateralism,” Fernández de Kirchner explained.

Regarding the Olympic ad, she said she was in favor of “creativity and truth,” assuring that it is “an excellent message made by Argentines.”

Since the ad was created by a British advertising agency, the President said that “the English also need to come to us” for creativity.

The Head of State made these statements during the opening ceremony of the Evita Hall in the Government House, in front of actors and actresses who were present to celebrate another anniversary of the former first lady's birth.
