Break in the opposition
Reutemann breaks with Latorre, a Senate ally

Justicialist senator for Santa Fe province, Carlos Reutemann, decided to break the bloc he shared with his counterpart Roxana Latorre after the legislator enabled, with her signature, the possibility of discussing in the Upper House the project on delegated powers.

The senator considered it "impossible" to continue in the Santa Fe Federal bloc with his ally, after the legislator supported a government initiative last week without consulting him.

Reutemann sent a note to the president of the Senate, Julio Cobos, informing him of the rupture with the bloc "Santa Fe Federal," while Latorre did the same as by announcing the creation of the mono bloc "Santa Fe Federalism."

The senator confessed he did not "understand" his counterpart's attitude, and he complained that he found out "through the newspapers" of the legislator's action, which resulted crucial for kirchnerite's to be able to discuss tomorrow in the Senate the project that aspires to extend the delegated powers given to the Executive branch.

"It's a huge blow. I asked for explanations which I don't understand because for a year and a half we've been battling and I can't find a reasonable explanation," Reutemann said, and he also stated that Latorre "didn't understand the battle which is being fought against kirchnerism."

The problem in the Santa Fe Federal bloc, created by Reutemann and Latorre this year after distancing themselves from the national government, arose last week when the government had only seven signatures in favour of extending the delegated powers granted to the Executive branch, among which is included the power to fix export duties.

Latorre endorsed the official project and gave the Victory Front party, led by Miguel Ángel Pichetto, the majority it needed to take it to the Senate tomorrow.

If the legislator had not favoured the initiative, the government would have had to request the project be treated in an expedite manner, which would have required two-thirds of the senators present, a number it is not in conditions to recruit.

In that case, the project would have had to wait until next week in order to reach the Upper House, in compliance with the statutory deadline.
