After controversial speech
Cabinet Chief: Rural Society has nothing to do with the poor
Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández denied that the Argentine Rural Society could defend the interests of the lower classes in Argentina, two days after the head of the farming organization said it was working with the opposition on a plan to curb poverty at the opening speech at this year's farming exhibition in Palermo.
Commenting on the speech made by Hugo Biolcati, head of the rural organization, the Cabinet Chief said "the Rural Society has never had anything to do with the popular sectors, and even less with concerns about the welfare of the poor."
The centre-left administration of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has based much of its support on the working class, and has repeatedly accused the Rural Society of being anti-democratic.
Biolcati's word's "were only statement before the crowd," the Cabinet Chief added.
