CFK still expected
Biolcati at Rural Exposition: 'Scioli's visit is like a symbol'
Hugo Biolcati, the leader of the conservative Argentine Rural Society (SRA) commented on Daniel Scioli's visit to the 123rd Rural Exposition, the farming sector organization's annual event. Biolcatti said he is still expecting Cristina Fernández de Kirchner's visit, in spite of the ongoing conflict between the farming sector and the government.
"Scioli's visit is like a symbol. Even if the President doesn't visit us, the governor of the Buenos Aires province and José Pampuro (Senator, Kirchner-loyalist) were here," Biolcatti said.
"It does not mean we are forgetting that Scioli attacked us, said ‘one does not play around with food', and supported CFK during the conflict between us and the government. We also won't forget the testimonial candidacies," he added. "However, we reiterate our invitation to the President to come visit us".
Regarding the Economical and Social Council (which was created by the government to install a dialogue with entrepreneurs and industries) to which the farming sector entities have not been invited yet, Biolcatti commented: "We don't know how it will be done. If we do get invited and we see that this is a serious project, then we'll go. If it is just an artifice, a compilation of personalities with no concrete possible issues, then we won't. We think the place to discuss national policies is the parliament."
In reference to the possible dairy farmers strike, the leader of the SRA said he thought there was "no lack of milk. The production is still superior to the internal needs. What we are losing are small dairy producers."
