After government's announcements
INDEC: 'Boudou calls the shots', Aníbal Fernández
Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández supported the government's decision for which the INDEC statistics bureau will now directly depend on the Economy Ministry and not by the Domestic Trade secretary, Guillermo Moreno.
On a radio appearance, Fernández commented: "These new reforms will strength the INDEC and will bring more control to the national statistics."
Cabinet Chief left no doubt on who's the man in charge and passed the ball to recently appointed Economy Minister and left controversial Guillermo Moreno out of the question. "From now on all shots will be called by one person only: Amado Boudou."
Fernández assured that with the new changes "the national official statistics will be controlled by an increased number of experts whom come from different sectors of the economy and most important, the national Congress itself."
The decree also states that they will create an "Academic Council", headed by the members of Buenos Aires University (UBA) among others, which will advice and control INDEC's statistics. The Council will be in charge of the Consumer Price Index which will also be controlled by the Congress.
Critics arose immediately from the opposition since the new designated Technical Director of the INDEC will be Norberto Itzcovich, a professional known to be a Guillermo Moreno's loyalist.
