Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández said the meeting held yesterday by Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri and president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner started with an analysis of the national and international situation.

He added that work between both administrations will begin today with a possible meeting between him and the city's Cabinet Chief Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.

Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri said that his meeting with President Cristina Fernández "was a step forward" in the dialogue between the Federal Administration and the opposition. "It is our duty to generate consensus", he added, and announced he will meet the President again.

"In 30 days' time we shall meet again to verify what advances were made", he added. Macri confirmed that the Federal Police, that now has jurisdiction on the Argentine capital, and the future City police he is organizing, will work jointly. And regarding his request of transferring to the City Police, the Federal Police's premises and personnel, President Cristina told him that it required a Congressional law.

The encounter was the first in President Cristina's decision to receive the Governors of the 24 Argentine districts.

Macri said the President committed herself to a growing cooperation between the City Government and the Federal Administration through the joint work of technical teams on such subjects as poverty, transportation and security.

He also reported that on the subject of public transportation, "we decided to jointly discuss the policy of tariff subsidies through our respective ministries of Social Development".

"I am optimistic, we are satisfied and I came to the meeting with the best of spirits. I also agreed with the President on the need to preserve jobs and generate sources of work", Macri commented.

Regarding international financing for the City, and the extension of the subway system, the Mayor said that the Federal Government told him that there are other priorities in the country.
