KATYN. (Poland, 2007, in Polish, Russian and German with Spanish-language subtitles). Acclaimed Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda is back (well, this film dates back to 2007, and he already has other projects in the making) in top form with a historical-political reconstruction.

Remake of the 1974 Joseph Sargent thriller about the hijacking of a convoy of NYC subway trains. Pelham 1 2 3 (the 1974 original, was electrifying and had you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end) pits Denzel Washington against a merciless gang commanded by John Travolta.

Fairy tale (sort of) in which Cristina Ricci plays the daugther of a well-off but rather dysfunctional family with a penchant for strange beliefs. Their daughter, they argue, must bear the malediction of only being capable of being loved by a man with certain special traits, very hard to find, of course. Directed by: Mark Palansky.
