President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner gave new details of the H1N1 situation in Argentina at a joint press conference with Buenos Aires Governor Daniel Scioli, Buenos Aires Health minister Claudio Zin, and national Health Minister Juan Manzur, from Abete hospital, in the district of Malvinas Argentinas.
She confirmed that 44 people died in the country due to the new virus and asked Argentine people to make "an exercise of prudence and responsibility" amid the outbreak of the H1N1 influenza.
The president urged the media to be "responsible" and criticized them for informing non-official figures which cause "panic" among the people.
Juan Manzur earlier reiterated the need of "collaboration and responsibility" people must have to overcome the outbreak of the H1N1 influenza, adding the government is guaranteeing the supply of medicines.
"All the government areas are coordinating actions and we all have some responsibility in this situation," he added.
After saying that Argentina is going through a very "serious and delicate situation," he explained that from 120,000 cases of influenza, 85.9% are H1N1 cases.
A group of mayors of districts of Buenos Aires province met earlier with Scioli and Zin.
