Phone calls to the Ephedrine King
De Narváez meets with judge, reiterates he doesn't know the 'Ephedrine King'
Deputy-elect Francisco De Narváez presented himself before federal judge Federico Faggionato Márquez, whom he asked to take his statement as soon as possible, in order to clarify the situation in the Ephedrine case. He confirmed he didn't have "anything to do" with Mario Segovia, known as the "Ephedrine King".
The two men spoke for half an hour together. De Narváez gave the judge a written document saying he would like to testify "as soon as possible". "I said I would come to the judge as soon as the election was to be over. I don't have anything new to declare in this case. I don't know Segovia," he told reporters after the meeting.
During the election campaign, federal judge Federico Faggionato Márquez had summoned De Narváez, asking him to explain why three calls had been made from one of his cell phones to Segovia before the latter was arrested. De Narváez always claimed he didn't know Segovia and that this was part of a dirty campaign from the ruling party against him.
