Classes suspended, holidays extended, health emergency declared. Know all the initiatives that authorities implemented to combat spreading H1N1 A influenza.

• The government decided to suspend all drama plays and any type of shows held at theatres from July 6 to July 16.

• The Buenos Aires Province's revenue service (ARBA) decided to attend public only between 10am and 1pm in local service centers and from 10am to 12pm in the La Plata City's main office.

• The AFIP revenue office will not attend public for the next ten days.

• Casinos of the coastal city of Mar Del Plata (Buenos Aires Province) will be closed until Tuesday.

• River Plate Athletic Club will be closed from Monday until further notice.

• High school graduation trips to San Carlos de Bariloche city that were scheduled for the next two weeks are postponed.

• The first division football final between Vélez Sarsfield and Huracán will be played and open to public, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) decided. So far, the City of Buenos Aires didn't prohibit massively attended places to open. However the AFA decided to suspend all youth divisions games.

• Misiones province: the province's government decided to shut all administration buildings and send all the public sector employees home until July 27th.

• The Buenos Aires Supreme Court postponed all legal proceedings requiring the presence or the transfer of detainees to avoid spreading swine flu in prisons.

• The Supreme Court decided to bring forward the winter judicial recess to July 6. It will last until July 17.

• The Jewish community suspended group activities. Synagogues will stay open.

• All the country health infrastructure (public, private and from social security) will be dedicated to attend Influenza A patients.

• The Federal Government will cover expenses for persons being treated in private health centers for H1N1 virus symptoms and don't have medical insurance.

• The newly appointed Health Minister Juan Manzur decided that private and public sectors employees would be granted medical leaves for the next 15 days if they are part of one of the following categories: pregnant women, persons with low immune defenses, people with bronchial problems and asthmatics.

• Seven private universities decided to suspend classes: National University of La Matanza (UNLaM), University of Palermo (UP), Buenos Aires Technological Institute (ITBA), the Argentine Business University (UADE), Argentine Catholic University (UCA) and Favaloro's University announced they will suspend classes from July 6 until further notice. The Business Administration University (UCES) announced they will suspend classes from July 2 until July 19. Meanwhile, the John F. Kennedy University's authorities announced that they are "applying measures to prevent the spread."

• The Buenos Aires University (UBA) suspended classes for the following departments and high schools: Escuela Superior de Comercio Carlos Pellegrini, Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, ILSE, Agrotécnica, Museo Etnográfico, CBC, Medicine School, faculty of Odontology, Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, faculty of Philosophy and Literature, and faculty of Social Sciences which announced the closure of three of its buildings. The ones affected are Marcelo T. de Alvear, Parque Centenario, and Constitución. They will all remain closed until July 31 while disinfection measures are taken.

• The City of Buenos Aires, as well as San Juan, Entre Ríos, Salta, Santa Fe, La Pampa and Buenos Aires provinces declared the State of Health Emergency.

• The mayor of the city of Chajarí (Entre Ríos province) decided the thermal springs should remain closed for ten days, as well as all municipal activities and courses and official buildings.

• The Morón district authorities suspended all "educative, artistic, cultural, sportive and group events".

• Buenos Aires province's National Electoral Board postponed for 15 days the definite vote counting.

• The Quilmes authorities suspended public activities. Pubs, night clubs, fitness centres, bingo halls, playgrounds and arcades will remain closed, they also suggested to suspend classes on July 2.

• Buenos Aires Rugby Union announced it will suspend their activities until July 12. The Top 14 Tournament round that was going to be played on Saturday is also postponed.

• The president of the Television and Radio Journalists Association confirmed that the Martín Fierro Awards ceremony, which was scheduled for July 15, was also postponed until further notice.

• Catamarca: Provincial authorities announced that they suspended the National Poncho Festival.

• Córdoba: Babasónicos music band postponed their show in Córdoba that was scheduled for this weekend.

• National Government decided to create a one billion pesos fund to fight the H1N1 virus.

• The "Turismo Competición 2000" race authorities decided to postpone the event that was to occur in the streets of Santa Fe on July 26 for sanitary reasons.

• La Pampa: Municipal Councillors from Realicó district announced that bars, restaurants, churches and arcades will be closed until July 10.

• The Argentine Association of Theater Owners (AADET) declared theaters would stay open in Buenos Aires but would observe stricter hygiene rules and follow measures recommended by the government.

• The city of La Plata suspended all cultural and sportive events in public venues. This also includes the Pasaje Dardo Rocha, Coliseo Podestá theater, República de Los Niños, the Malvinas Argentinas cultural center and the local zoo.

• Mendoza: The Mendoza province government decided to postpone all coming public events until september 10. This concerns the Independencia theater and the Ángel Bustelo auditorium. The government is to decide soon if privately owned theatres and venues will be asked to apply the same measures.

• San Juan province: Until July 24, indoor public shows, night clubs and public buildings will remain closed. Independence day festivities also were cancelled.

• The city of Tandil authorities (Buenos Aires province) decided to shut schools, theatres and museums. They also asked night clubs to remain closed for the next two weeks.

• The government of the Buenos Aires province announced it would reinforce hospitals on its territory with more doctors and nurses as the peak of the swine flu outbreak in the country is expected in two weeks. It also authorized pregnant health employees not to attend work and granted medical leaves to workers who are considered "in risk," including asthmatics, workers with low immune defenses or with bronchial problems.

• The juvenile book fair, which was planned to take place between July 13 and August 1, was cancelled, the El Libro Foundation events director Marta Díaz said.

• The 23 provinces in Argentina have suspended classes for six weeks: Buenos Aires province and City, Santiago del Estero, Chubut, Entre Ríos, Corrientes, Santa Fe, Santa Cruz, Neuquén, Misiones, Córdoba, La Rioja, Catamarca, San Juan, San Luis, Jujuy, Río Negro, Chaco, Mendoza, La Pampa, Salta and Tierra del Fuego.

• The Mayor of Pergamino city, in the province of Buenos Aires, Héctor María Gutiérrez, told BuenosAiresHerald.com that all activities and people gatherings have been cancelled.

• The Argentine Football Association (AFA) decided to suspend for a month all Indoor Soccer and Amateur Soccer competitions.

• The BA Supreme Court allowed all of its pregnant employees to stay home until July 12. The highest provincial court also agreed to suspend all legal proceedings between July 2 and July 8. During those days, the court will attend public only between 8am and 11am.

• The municipality of La Plata suspended classes in public primary schools and kindergartens.
