Corrientes: Arturo Colombi's front leading, Artaza wins seat in the Senate
Josefina Meabe, for the Front for All party, is leading in the province of Corrientes, with 36.43 percent of the vote for the National Senate. Runner-up Eugenio ‘Nito' Artaza, a famous Argentine comedian, garnered 32.10 percent, and he will join the Upper House in December.
José Monti, representing Corrientes for Change was left out of the Upper House race, after he only obtained 25.95 percent of the vote.
The Province of Corrientes is electing 3 National Deputies and 3 Senators. The Front for All, is the branch of the Radical party led by provincial governor Arturo Colombi, who celebrated the victory of his party.
Colombi has secured two of three possible seats in the Upper House, in what will mean a strong support for Vice-President Julio Cobos, who already said is planning to run for the presidency in 2011.
José Monti, the third in the vote, was left out of the Senate, as, according to the electoral system, the majority gets two seats in the Upper Hosue and the first minority one.
The National Deputy candidates for the Lower House are Kirchnerist Eduardo Galantini, Justicialist Nilda Argoitia and Independent María Elena Chieno.
