Midterm elections
Low attendance in today's elections
According to the National Electoral Board, the attendance to polling stations were low nationwide reaching 60 percent of voters, 13 percent below 2005 elections, in which only 73.3 percent of citizens showed up to vote.
Almost 28 million citizens were allowed to vote in the 23 districts where elections were held. Today's vote will determine municipal councilors nationwide, the renewal of half of the Lower House of Congress, and the renewal of one third of the Senate.
Kirchnerist Deputy Héctor Recalde said today that the public did go out and vote, although not in outstanding proportions such as in previous elections, and attributed the lower number of voters to the climate and to the H1N1 virus.
