Daniel Scioli where the truck was stopped and the drug seized. The Buenos Aires province governor went there to "show his support to 'his' troops".

Police seized two tons of marijuana that were hidden in a truck transporting a manioc cargo in the district of Lanús (southern Greater Buenos Aires). Two persons were arrested. Police stopped the truck at 3am at the Gerli Bridge, at the crossroads of Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenue and Rodríguez Boulevard.

Buenos Aires governor Daniel Scioli arrived at the scene this morning and gave a press conference in which he congratulated the officers and gave details on the investigation, which had lasted for months, he said.

According to police sources, the drug was coming from Paraguay and entered Argentina through the Misiones province. The truck was heading towards the Matanza district in (western Greater Buenos Aires). The two men arrested were the truck driver and a man driving a car staying very close the truck, "keeping an eye" on the shipment.

The final destination was La Matanza, where the manioc was slated to be delivered ast the central market. However, it is likely, according to police, that the truck would have stopped somewhere else beforehand, to cut the drug and sell it in the domestic market.
