Buzzi reiterates demands
Farmers warn of more protests after elections
The FAA Small Farmers' Association warned that protests against the government's agricultural policy might be resumed after the midterm elections.
The head of the FAA, Eduardo Buzzi, said that after June 28, different farmers' association might demonstrate by the side of the roads given the "very delicate situation" facing the sector. They are demanding that the authorities lower export duties of farming products and other measures to aid farmer, hit by rising supplies' costs and droughts.
Buzzi told news agencies in Buenos Aires that the FAA and the other farming lobbies grouped under the Liaison Comittee, which led several protests and an extended farming lockout last year, were planning to stage "new protests when the right time comes."
Buzzi's remarks were made at the presentation of candidates of the FAA, who are represting different political parties, in Tucumán, Chaco, La Pampa and Buenos Aires province.
