Fourth H1N1 A death in Argentina
The National Health Ministry confirmed the fourth death from H1N1 influenza in Argentina. Three people are still hospitalized in intensive care and the cases add up to 871. The authorities have decided to cancel any school's closure in Buenos Aires City and province.
As a result of the spreading cases, the Buenos Aires province Health Ministry, has announced it would to focus on risk groups, people suffering from diseases that are more prone to trigger serious respiratory infection.
Buenos Aires province Health Minister, Claudio Zin, said "those deaths doesn't mean that H1N1 virus is now more aggressive, what's happening is that it's evolving a more sensitive group of people."
Authorities confirmed yesterday that a 28-year-old man who had a transplant in 2000, died on Friday in La Plata. On June 5, he went to the doctor with fever, cough and died and four days later he was hospitalized with an illness similar to pneumonia.
The Malbrán Institute confirmed this person had H1N1 A flu and the doctors began to treat him. But on Friday the patient had a "lung haemorrhage" and died.
National Health Minister Graciela Ocaña yesterday reported the first fatality of the H1N1 influenza epidemic in the country. A three-month old baby died in Buenos Aires City due to the virus. It is not known how the baby became infected.
Ocaña asked the population to take measures to avoid infecting other people with the disease, implementing hygiene measures and isolating themselves during the first days of the flu.
