Mid-term elections
De Narváez: I'm more progressive than Kirchner
The leading congressional candidate of the opposition Unión-PRO in the province of Buenos Aires, Francisco De Narváez, claimed that polls say his party is "already favourite" to win in the mid-term elections but "only by a tight margin, yet."
Touring the streets of the Greater Buenos Aires district of Avellaneda, De Narváez, a businessman, also described himself as "more progressive" than his rival Néstor Kirchner, who often claims the government should play an active role in the economy and nationalize private companies in key economic areas.
The head of the Unión-PRO said his party would outperform the government's faction of the Peronism in the vote, claiming "we're already winning in some major districts of the province."
De Narváez visited Avellaneda this morning, along with the head of the Small Farmers' Federation in Entre Ríos, Alfredo De Angeli, one of the most visible heads of the farmers' protests against the government of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
