Former caretaker president Eduardo Duhalde today returned to the public eye to denounce the lack of a "strategic planning" in the country, in a renewed critic to the government that came less then a month ahead of the congressional elections.

"We're not thinking about today. We're always looking behind," said the former Peronist president, who ruled Argentine between 2002 and 2003 and was succeeded by Néstor Kirchner.

"In Argentina there is no strategic planning as it happens in Brazil, where the Strategic Planning Ministry, led by Magabeira Unger."

Duhalde made such remarks during a debate with diplomat and writer Abel Posse, over the current situation facing Argentina amid the economic international crisis at the office of the MPA think-tank.

Duhalde, head of MPA, has admitted that he regretted having helped Kirchner to make it to the presidency in 2003 and he is reportedly is forging an anti-Kirchner pole with a view to the June 28 mid-term vote and the 2011 presidential elections.

He is keeping close contacts with the dissident-Peronists of Unión-PRO, led by congressional candidates Francisco de Narváez and Felipe Solá.

Speaking after Duhalde, Posse did not spare harsh words to criticize Kirchner and his wife and successor President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. "The move to bring forward the elections was the personal strategy of someone who is falling apart," he said, claiming Argentina is now under "the worst possible situation."

"We're the witnesses of an agonizing fever, before health comes," said Posse.
