Cheque Tax: Gov't gets one more vote
Senator Ada Maza (PJ - La Rioja) informed that she would vote against any project trying to modify revenue sharing in the Cheque Tax, providing the ruling party with an additional vote in an already tight dispute between government and opposition.
"This debate is not about sending more money to provinces, it's a political issue," Maza stated, who at the same time supported the government's position.
"We can't block the country from financing," she expressed.
The senator also explained that she had tried, unsuccessfully, to reach La Rioja governor Luis Beder Herrera to inform him of her decision.
Yesterday, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner rejected the opposition's plan to share revenue in the Cheque Tax, estimated to be close to the 11.5 billion pesos.
Fernández de Kirchner explained that such a measure would cause for a 15 percent adjustment in the budget sent to the ANSeS, social plans and universities.
