Argentine woman arrested with over 10 kilos of cocaine
A 26-years-old Argentine woman was arrested in the Santiago de Chile airport with between 10 and 15 kilos of cocaine in her luggage. The suitcases were made out of cocaine and plastic, local newspapers reported today.
The mule was arriving from Argentina for a five hour stopover before taking a plane to Madrid. There, she was going to visit some friends for holidays, she first told the police.
Two officers of the antinarcotics police asked her about her itinerary and, as she seemed very nervous, checked her two suitcases. Each of them weighed 20 kilos, which didn't exactly fit as there was very little content inside.
Chemical tests then proved the luggage was actually made out of a mix of very pure cocaine and plastic. Usually, suitcases have false bottoms in which mules hide illegal products. "In this case, the luggage was the drug", Airport antinarcotics police chief Leandro Morales said. Morales explained that a chemical process could then separate the plastic from the drug.
The woman eventually confessed she was to receive 5000 dollars for the luggage.
