Quorum was reached thanks to 37 votes.

Quorum was reached among senators after former President Carlos Menem finally casted his vote. Menem had arrived earlier at the Senate and declared: "I'm here to comply with my duties."

Quorum was reached in the Senate and opposition has now gained power, leaving practically no pro-government officials with seats in Congress. The committee’s composition was approved.

"I've requested to be featured in several committees," he then added. He confirmed that quorum was to be reached and that he is to vote for the opposition to control and monitor the Senate and for the committees to be distributed.

Former President Carlos Menem, now La Rioja's Senator, was the one who provided the vote for the quorum to be reached as regards approving the committees' composition.

After having reaching quorum and leaving the committee's issue behind, the debate moved onto dealing with the summons requested performed on Economy Minister Amado Boudou. Likewise, the issue surrounding the questioning of Central Bank's governor Mercedes Marcó del Pont was said to be debated.

Dissident Justicialist Party leader Liliana Negre de Alonso confirmed it: "The committees' composition was approved with 37 senators."

Kirchnerite Miguel Ángel Pichetto complaint about the final decisions and described the move as "an arbitrary one."

"I want to express that our caucus does not agree with this proposal, it just does not show proportionality," Pichetto summed up.

Last week, Kirchnerites abandoned the hall and called the session for defining the composition of committees off. La Rioja's Senator Carlos Menem was absent and the opposition was left with no quorum. Pro-government officials demanded a majority for every committee and for bicameral ones. The opposition, on the other hand, proposed to control 13 of the 25 committees.

Kirchnerites abandoned the hall in the Congress right before the voting for the integration of committees and left without quorum the session in which the opposition was to gain more Parliamentary power.

Today, with Julio Cobos leading the session once more, the Senate is debating the composition of committees again.
