French automaker Peugeot has now aimed his cannons to one of the most glamorous sports: Polo. Thus, Peugeot Argentina has launched a special series of the 307 model named La Dolfina in honour to the multi-winner polo team in which Adolfo Cambiaso Jr. — considered the best polo player in the world — plays.
It is not the first time that Peugeot surprises its clients with special series vehicles. Among the most influential ones, we can remember the Rolland Garros and the Rally series, as well as the Quiksilver series, released recently in alliance with the surf clothing brand.
The 307 La Dolfina series is an exclusive model (only 307 units were manufactured) and comes with the team's LD symbol stamped in the tailgate as well in both front doors. This special model also comes with some equipment improvements.
This new model is powered with a petrol 2.0L engine that can deliver 143HP, which is the one I've tested. Another option is the HDi diesel engine that delivers 110HP.
The design was based on the 307 XS Premium full and comes with double bodywork of five doors.
Special series are a good way to promote a new model and to get that commercial push that brands always look for. In this case, Peugeot relies on the fact that the 307 is one of the most wanted medium size vehicles in the market, thanks to its design lines that still irradiate personality and robustness.
Compared to a standard 307 model, the LD version comes with 16mm alloy wheels and the 307 logo on the left side of the tailgate. The interior is very elegant. The seats’ upholstery is made entirely in leather and comes in two tones, with the central seat stripe in beige. The head supports come with the La Dolfina logo embroidered with fine threads, as well as the floor front carpets.
Mirroring the XS Premium, the 307 LD special series also provides great comfort featuring climate control system, front electric windows, cruise control, sliding roof, and mp3 radio. This new model gladly surprised us with a USB port, and a Bluetooth connection.
The 307 LD comes with ABS (anti-lock braking system) and Electro-nic Bake Distribution, firm pedals, and both front and rear anti-fog headlights.
The adjustable steering column and the seats’ design make it easier to drive your way and get a correct driving position. The multifunctional central console computer allows us to visualize our cell's phone-book if connected to the Bluetooth port.
One thing to be distinguished is the good and crystal clear visibility that the spacious windshield offers, as well as the external mirrors. One thing I noticed though is that the rear windshield could have been bigger as its current size makes visibility a little difficult.
The rear part offers good leg-space, although seats are too vertical and might become a bit uncomfortable during long distance trip. The trunk offers a considerable capacity of 340 litres.
