Former Buenos Aires province governor Felipe Solá, who is second in the Unión-PRO slate for the Lower House of Congress in the upcoming mid-term elections, said his successor, Buenos Aires Governor Daniel Scioli is "preparing to flee" his job in the face of the economic crisis.

"This is very serious. We're could be witnesses of a second escape. In 2002 I had to take charge of the province (when Carlos Ruckauf quit.) Now we see a 20 percent deficit in the provincial budget by the end of the year," Solá asserted.

The candidate said Scioli has shown "willingness to abandon the people of the province," and claimed the former boat racer has "completely failed" with the policies adopted by his administration since he came to office in 2007. Nevertheless, Solá blamed Peronist party chairman Néstor Kirchner for Scioli's purported failure. "Kirchner is the one behind this," he said.

Solá is second in the Unión-PRO congressional slate after businessman Francisco de Narváez, who represent the faction of the dissident Peronism that forged an alliance with Mauricio Macri's centre-right PRO, in a move to beat the Kirchnerite Peronism in the ballot.
