President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will travel to Montevideo, Uruguay, to take part in the Mercosur Meeting, during which she will take over the presidency of the block for a period of six months.

The President will arrive in Montevideo for the last presidential meeting of the year for the South American group, which will also be the last meeting that counts on the presence of Tabaré Vázquez and Chile's President Michelle Bachelet.

In addition, the trip to Uruguay will close the international travelling agenda for Argentina's president for 2009.

At the meeting, Fernández de Kirchner will close the Mercosur-European Union Business Forum, and will later take part of the presidents' meeting, led by Vázquez, according to official sources.

At the meeting, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Brazil) will also be present, along with Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), and Hugo Chávez (Venezuela).

At the latest meeting held in Estoril, Portugal, the Mercosur representatives along with those from the European Union agreed to work on reaching an agreement between regional blocks and work on relations between the organizations.

Uruguay's new president, José "Pepe" Mujica, will also be present and will meet with President Fernández de Kirchner privately after the Mercosur meeting.

In addition, it is possible that the situation in Honduras may be discussed at the meeting.
