Foto Noticia

City taxi rates have been raised 21 percent from now on, according to the values fixed by the public audience to which City officials and Taxi organizations participated. The start value was raised from 3.80 to 4.60 pesos.

The price of $0.38 peso every 200 metres will jump to $0.46 peso/200m.

Originally, taxi organizations were asking for a 30 percent raise, but eventually agreed on a 21 percent raise starting in December instead of January 2010, as originally planned.

During the last negotiations — in November —, taxi organizations first refused an offer from City officials raising fares to $4.20 peso at start and $0.42 peso every 200 metres.
