Three great films to enjoy this holiday

A shower curtain ring salesman ruining a trip to Chicago; a single mom visiting her dysfunctional family in Chicago; and the lives of three sisters between two Thanksgivings in New York are included in three highly recommended drama-comedy films to watch on Thanksgiving holiday.
"Hannah and Her Sisters" (Woody Allen, 1986): Divided into three different parts, Allen's biggest box-office hit of the 80s tells the interlaced stories of three sisters and their families between two Thanksgivings celebrations in New York, as expected in the director's movies back then. Hannah and Her Sisters' witty and sensitive script and all-star cast (Mia Farrow, Michael Caine, Dianne Wiest, Barbara Hershey, Max von Sydow, Carrie Fisher, Maureen O'Sullivan and John Turturro) prove that a Thanksgiving day happens even in the best of Allen's families.
"Planes, trains and automobiles" (John Hughes, 1987): The director of National Lampoon's Vacation; The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink delivered a hilarious buddy road film about a desperate man trying to get home for Thanksgiving (Steve Martin), and his accidental encounter with a annoying shower curtain ring salesman played by the great John Candy. Or how a less-than-two-hours flight to Chicago becomes a two-day trip in one of the funniest American comedies from the late 80s.
"Home for the Holidays" (Jodie Foster, 1995): In a bittersweet tone, the second directorial work of actress Jodie Foster depicts the disastrous Thanksgiving holiday gathering of a dysfunctional family played by Robert Downey Jr., Helen Hunt, Geraldine Chaplin and the unforgettable Anne Bancroft.
