After teamster qualified Court of 'reactionary'
Jabs and hooks between Supreme Court and Moyano
Supreme Court Justice Carlos Fayt downplayed the rumors indicating conflicts among the Judiciary employees, thus responding to the head of the CGT Labour Confederation, Hugo Moyano, who threw harsh words against the Supreme Court during a protest rally of Judiciary employees as qualifying the SC of being "reactionary", and ironically promising to give them "a hand" to modify certain attitudes".
The teamster leader had said that the Supreme Court is a "reactionary institution", in a clear reference to last year Court's ruling that opened the door for multiple-union representation.
"You should worry about Moyano, he is the one that appears as the workers' leader", Fayt told reporters early this morning at his home's front door before heading to work.
Fayt also remarked that "any comments made by Moyano do not affect us", and added, "The Court is supreme, and it won't lose that attribute. It is a bastion of the rights and liberties, and it has to guarantee justice for all Argentines."
Justice also reminded that "Moyano knows very well what the origin of the situation and problems the Judiciary employees are currently going through."
Moyano rapidly came into stage to respond Fayt comments and cold off things, "It's totally absurd to say that I had threatened the Supreme Court. It's a stupidity coming from both who say it, and those who write such a things on newspapers", the CGT head said during a radio interview.
Moyano assured reporters that "CGT will respect whatever the Supreme Court rules regarding the multiple-union representation."
On the other hand, Judge Elena Highton de Nolasco joined Fayt's crusade and commented that "Moyano's initiatives do not intimidate us", and added "judges are neither the government nor the opposition, and there are always rulings that raise controversy”.
"The Supreme Court works and rules according to the law. In the specific topic of the multiple-union representation, it rules based on what the international conventions say", Nolasco remarked.
