Labour Minister Carlos Tomada said that "an important institutional network has been generated for the eradication of child labour" and he also highlighted that "the growth of the Business Network Against Child Labour".

During the opening act of the 10th National Meeting of Provincial Commissions for the Prevention and Eradication of Child Labour (COPRETI), which is being held in the Labour headquarters until Wednesday, November 24, and which counts with the participation of commissions from all over the country, integrated by State representatives, unions and business chambers, Tomada highlighted the importance of daycares and of the universal child allowance. Regarding the meeting, the minister said he valued the "experience exchange" and he said that "in the activities programme the evolution and the increase of actions is reflected in a process that is more intervention than diagnosis."

"The institutionalization is already underway and this is the time of concrete actions, since an important institutional network has been generated in order to eradicate child labour," added the official.

Tomada mentioned the special importance of daycares, "a topic that is being worked on, since we want a law and especially a policy in order to gain supporters on this front, so that there may be daycares everywhere, especially for the working mother that has serious obstacles fro leaving her children."

The minister also referred to the need to "improve and reorient the agreement between Labour and Education (which gives out scholarships and financial aid to children who work so that they may return to school) from the moment the universal child allowance goes into effect."
